Warhammer 40,000 – Chasing the meta can be a fickle thing. Particularly if you’re not actively playing in tournaments, since the “meta” for certain style events can be incredibly different than what’s going on in your own circle of players. For many of the competitive lists people try to emulate are built to play a very specific mission set.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – I remember when bitz boxes the world over were filled with left over Space Marine Plasma Guns. It was always a weapon that would kill your own gun at the most inopportune of times, which meant any other special weapon would see more play on the table. Eight Edition made it a choice to supercharge your plasma and risk killing your own guy rather than happening every time they fire their gun. Suddenly plasma guns are all the rage and you see them on everything.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – I just wrapped up more iconic Ravenwing models. Like most of the Space Marines Chapters the bulk of their army is made up of units that are shared with the main codex with some minor variations. Each of the chapters with their own codex then have several unique units that only they can access. The Darkshroud and Black Knights are both examples only the Dark Angels have access to.
Read MoreWarhammer 40k – Black is one of those colors I have a love/hate relationship with. When it's done right it looks amazing on the table, but even then it's hard to get credit for the amount of time it took to get to the level of detail you put in. On the other hand when doing a basic three color paint job it's super easy to put down two thin coats of black and call it a day. I've also figured out a nice dark gray mix that when washed with Nuln Oil makes a nice substitute for painting black and edge highlighting.
Read MoreWarhammer 40,000 – It just doesn't end, the Dark Angels just keep coming. In this batch we have the remainder of the Ravenwing contingent of his force. This consists of a bunch of bikes and a Landspeeder Typhoon. Painting the Ravenwing is one of my least favorite jobs, don't get me wrong they look amazing on the table top but painting black is difficult to make look right. It's not like you can just wash it to get a nice shade so most of the detail comes from what you do with the highlighting.
